November 25 marks the National Consciousness Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and Children #VAWC, established under RA 10398, sponsored by Sen. Pia Cayetano. It also signals the start of the 18-Day Campaign to End VAWC.
As the principal author of the Magna Carta of Women (RA 9710), a landmark law that upholds the rights of Filipino women, Sen. Pia has long championed the fight against gender-based violence. She emphasizes that ending VAWC starts with awareness. Educating ourselves, supporting victims, and promoting real equality are key steps toward building a society where women and children are safe.
