Filipinos Dominate Philippine Open 2024

It’s a wrap for the first half of Philippine Open 2024. Organized by Padel Pilipinas, the official padel federation of the Philippines, in partnership with Play Padel, the Men’s and Women’s Open and Intermediate categories concluded yesterday, April 28, with Filipino players dominating the championship games.

It was an all-Pinoy match for the Men’s Open Finals. Tennis icon Johnny Arcilla and pro padel player Joseph Serra were victorious against their competitors, padel coaches Raymark Gulfo and Argil Lance Cañizares.

In the Men’s Intermediate, it was a tight 7-5, 7-6 (7-2) battle between Lemon Cruz and Bryan Saarenas against Nigel Rimando and Vinz Toribio, with the latter emerging as champions.

Fresh from their first international padel tournament at the Asia Pacific Padel Tour (APPT) in Hong Kong, partners Senator Pia Cayetano and Tao Yee Tan claimed the title in the Women’s Open category. Meanwhile, the Women’s Intermediate category was dominated by partners Mayumi Toribio and Violeta Volodkeviciute.

The tournament saw 77 participants – 51 male & 26 female – from 12 nationalities in action, forming 44 teams across the Women’s & Men’s Open and Intermediate Categories.

Padel Pilipinas is now gearing up for the second half of the competition, with the Mixed Open, Intermediate, and Beginner Categories set to happen on May 2 to 5.
