Filipinos in Spain gather to support the Filipinas

Interview with Senator Pia S. Cayetano (SPSC), head of the Philippine Women’s Football Team delegation to the Pinatar Cup, at the sidelines of the match between the Philippines and Scotland

Imagine, it’s the first time na magkakaroon tayo ng representation sa World Cup. First time. Pero ilang months pa yan, July pa yan. So itong Pinatar Cup ay isang practice tournament for them, para makalaban din nila itong ibang European countries. So practice ito for them.

As an athlete, ang paniniwala ko, there’s always something to learn in every game. Of course, nakatingin tayo sa score. But you can see the fight, you can see naman na yung skill nila magaling, nandyan naman yung skill. So it’s really more time, more maturity, para lalong makita yung kakayahan nila. But they’re doing great, and we’re very proud of them.

And can I just say, sobrang proud din ako dun sa Filipinos who came here, who gathered to support the Filipinas.#

Every game is a learning experience for the Filipinas, says Senator Pia S. Cayetano. The Philippine Women’s Football team will make its debut at the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 to be hosted by New Zealand and Australia this July.
Senator Pia S. Cayetano acknowledges the members of the Filipino community in Spain, who came from different areas to show their support to the Filipinas at the Pinatar Cup in San Pedro del Pinatar, Murcia, Spain.
